Ocean County, NJ, Man Charged With Sexually Exploiting Minors
Federal authorities say an Ocean County man has been arrested on child porn-related charges.
35-year-old Daniel Nilla of Brick is facing two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of receipt of child pornography.
According to officials, from December 2021 through this past April, Nilla was communicating with and receiving images and videos containing child exploitation material from five minors via an instant messaging app. Nilla induced at least two of those minors to send him images and videos of themselves engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Nilla made an initial court appearance on Thursday and was ordered detained.
If convicted, the charges of sexual exploitation of a minor each carry 15 to 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charge of receipt of child exploitation material carries five to 20 years behind bars and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger thanked the FBI and the Edwardsville, KS, Police Department for their help in this case.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
